Default Male or female?

I'm not sure if theres already been a poll on this topic but i'm keen to find out.

An article I recently read said there are 65% more females with SA than men in the UK yet whenever i've been to meets, theres usually 5 blokes to every 1 women. I'd love to know how many men and women use SAUK. So please vote!

i'm all man, baby.

I think men are more likely to use the internet, which would account for the disparity on the forum, and at meets. If there is one.

Jokes aside, statistics are unlikely to be accurate as men are less likely to seek medical advice in fear of damaging their pride. I haven't actually noticed any disparity on the forum though.

I think it's also more likely that more women are in relationships and thus:

a. grounded
b. already have someone to talk to intimately and without pressure, negating the need to reach out to the wider community

Exactly what i was about to say.

I don't trust these SA statistics to say the least.

Oh, and regarding this thread: I'm female I believe, but I've been wrong before!

I've always heard and read that more females have SA. But perhaps that is because more are diagnosed as such as they may be more likely to seek medical help?
Also, are males more likely to use forums than females? Most males I know use one forum or another, don't know many females who do. So maybe that's a possible reason why more males are on here?

I thinks it mostly guess work, I dont think theres a massive difference between men and woman. I think there is a lot of blokes out there who have SA and are too embarrssed to seek help. Thats why its always thought that theres women that have SA more then men but i thats wrong.

Not when it's a serious thread to establish the male-female ratio on SA-UK.

This is actually a light-hearted topic which is why I stuck it in the lounge. The 'unsure' option was just a bit of humour...and thats exactly what it brought to the thread.

But if you post a silly option people are going to vote for it so it doesn't give a true picture. I'm not meaning to criticise you, just voicing my opinion. I am sorry if I have spoken out of turn and misunderstood the reason for the thread.

I'm with genna - lighten up - does it really matter if a little silliness gets injected into a thread - no sir it does not - if anything humour is sometimes all we have to go on - after all, if you don't laugh you cry and I for one would rather laugh.

This sounds like you seriously wanted to know. As I would like to know too. but we can't know how many truly when a large proportion voted for unsure. anyway I'm off to bed. I'm too grumpy for SA-UK at the moment.

And case-sensitive I don't like being told to lighten up. Just because I give an opinion and it's not agreed with it doesn't mean I have to lighten up.

I don't like being told to lighten up either, who does when they're grumpy. Just because I give an opinion and you don't agree with it doesn't mean I have to agree with you.

Blimey!! All this from a little innocent thread.

I can understand why you'd want this to be a serious thread Alias, but those who know me, know i'm fond of the silliness even in so-called 'serious' topics like this one. I wasnt looking for an exact amount of numbers for this poll....just a rough idea.

Thanks, and I apologise too to both you and Genna. It was probably inappropriate to express my views in this instance.

As for the sense of humour failure. I do try but I'm depressed at the moment. So a combination of depression, old age, pedantry, bereavement and generally not being good at joining in cheery banter are all to blame. And I of course am to blame too.

Sorry for spoiling the thread.
