Default New year's resolutions

I have never been much good at keeping them. My self discipline sucks.

I don't make them. I don't need to make resolutions to know what changes I need to make in my life, and generally, if I fail to do those things, not having kept my New Year's Resolutions is the least of my worries.

I do usually use the turn of the year to stop and reflect on where I am and how my life has gone over the past twelve months, and where it appears to be going from there. But I've never made resolutions as part of that.

Hopefully a mixture of typesetting/DTP, print and web design, with some occasional photography work.

Alongside this, I would carry on developing my personal website and expanding the functionality of that.

I do the same, but if it comes to wanting to change or make a 'resolution' about myself that can be anytime of the year, so the odds of being on or around new year aren't too high. Even if that can be just as hard to achieve as a new year one would be for others.

I always make the same ones. I finally joined a gym last year and since June have been going once a week, not a great amount but a start.

Ive just put the regulars back on this year, quit smoking, exercise (more), Socialise (more) aaaand one additional....less drinking, I have quite the rep for this still. To the point my Dad has constantly reminded me of the family members with drinking issues haha ah well

I think people fail their resolutions by trying to do too much in one go. Why not try to spread your resolutions out to change, say, one thing a month? Just prioritise and make a list.

I definitely need to lose weight this year, and would like to learn to drive at last too. Obviously I want to get rid of my SA more, and could do with some more sociable hobbies. I'm not going to say "find a girlfriend" or anything as that still seems very far away, but I need to improve my confidence in this respect...

1. To visit the dentist and sort my teeth out because they're rotting.
2. To lose weight and exercise more because I've gone from a size 12 to 16 in the past year.
3. To meet a partner.

I don't make NY resolutions.

Steady progress throughout the year does for me.

My New Year's resolution is to save enough to buy a Velcro wall.

And I plan on sticking to it.

Oh I love this! Good mindset if you can keep it up! Well presuming you mean running forward focusing on the positives rather then running from things when the going get's tough. I might try this myself!

I kind of agree. I think often putting pressure to do this or that within a set time frame can make you feel a failure if you can't achieve it rather then baby steps of little things you can achieve in shorter periods. People often pick very hard things to achieve in one year!
