Yeah, i cut and pasted and godknowswhatelse in the meantime, the only way that i could have got it back was to do what i did - it was sat there in the text box still, lucky i didn't close the window really.

If someone is on your chat list on FB, does that mean you're on theirs too? This person is not a FB friend.

I think it depends if you have chatted before on Facebook.

I have someone who I deleted and never chatted with on mine. I also had somebody who I went a date with sometime last year adding me as a friend for some reason

If you want them off your list, click their name like you're going to chat with them, then click the little cog and choose 'Turn off chat for [this asshole]' and they're gone. You'll also be gone from their list.

^ Thank you, but I can't see a cog!
I'm on my phone btw, he only ever shows up on Messenger on my phone. And he isn't in my phone's contact list either, so that's not it.

Wait, maybe I should try it when he's online. I deleted him from Messenger so he isn't even a contact on there but FB keep pressuring me to talk to him whenever he's online for some reason. Dicks.

^ Ah, I meant Facebook.com. Maybe if you open a chatbox with them on the website you can turn them off there and it'll carry over to Messenger.

You could just block 'em on Messenger! (Start a chat and then tap their name at the top, scroll down and block)

In whatapp, when I go to contact I get a default list of numbers in my contacts who are also on whatsapp. Does that mean I will now be showing up as a suggestion to contact in their app and indeed contacts ?

Is there a way to turn this off ?

If they have your number and you're in their contacts. You will show up on the what's app list.

Ok, time to leave whatsapp and use it with one of my other numbers instead, I hope I can still use the same handset on a different phone number even when I switch the sim back.

Yeah that happened to me, one of my old friends contacted me when she joined whatsapp, my number was still on her phone and so I popped up on her contacts list and was brought to her attention I guess. We hadn't been in touch for about 3 and 1/2 yrs.

^In this case yeah. We have messaged back and forth for a while, tho less and less recently.
I'm fortunate that anyone I wouldn't want to get in touch with me probably no longer has my number.

In case anybody wants to know how you can sign up for whatsapp without connecting it to your actual phone number :-

Sign up for free for textnow (download the app), then select within whatapp to ring you with the code, use the textnow number.
It comes through via the txtnow app and just enter that code into whatsapp. Then send this number to people you want to chat with or connect to them form your contacts.

I've been living with my gf for a few years, but on the new starter form for my new job it asks for my marital status, the only available options are 'Single', 'Married', and 'Civil Partnership'.

I'm definitely not single.
We're definitely not married.
My gf definitely has a vagina, so it's not a civil partnership.

Which box do I tick?

^ This doesn't sound like a standard HMRC form but out of those it would be single. For tax purposes you are single I think.

Whats the exact name of the form or is it one specific to the firm you are going to work for ?

If they ask for proof of your third point then suspect foul play !

Out of those options I'd put single.
I've been with my partner 13 years, and unless the options include 'in a relationship' I still put single, because we are not married and don't live together officially.

^/^^
It's a form given to me by HR for my new job called 'New Starter Form', so it's one specific to the firm.
But I think you're right about having to tick 'Single'. I just won't tell my gf about this.

^ or leave this form laying around if you ever start to have doubts ?

That must just be for their records, the HMRC "new starter form" doesn't ask this information.
