Yes I find that aswell, gets a lot easier for me towards the last couple of exercises.

Just breakfast. 2 scoops whey, 1 scoop oats - in a shaker with water and a piece of fruit. Before I just had a pint of full fat milk, easy calories.

nice. a good tip for adding loads of calories into a shake is by putting a tablespoon of peanut butter into it. That'll increase it by like 100-200 calories.

Onwards and upwards matey, we all have 'those' days. Believe it or not, this is the first time this has ever happened. This morning i was away to do bench press so loaded up the weight that I can manage, I start then can only manage 2 reps ( wtf ) so I decreased it then can only manage a couple again so at that point I was getting quite angry and pee'd off so I walked out after 5 mins. So annoyed, no energy whatsoever and also a waste of petrol and post workout shake
How many reps can you normally do with that weight? And what's your set up like? Sounds like you might have a bit of a set up issue. Maybe not cueing enough external rotation (i.e. breaking the bar) or not having your scapula retracted underneath you enough.

I do 5x5 on all the main compound exercises. I think it was just lack of sleep, I hardly had any energy.

Am I wasting my time doing three sets of 10 with lighter weights? Would it be more effective to use heavier weights, but do three sets of 5, and do it slower - really not sure.

Just vary it smellycat. Whatever you do, you should be struggling by the last rep of the last set where you can barely complete the movement. I reckon either pick 3x10 or 5x5 and stick with it for like 6 weeks. Then you can vary. The downside with the higher weight 5x5 is there is a slightly higher chance of being injured if your technique isn't right. But both set/rep ranges are good.

I tend to do 3x12 personally

I'm an idiot. I've been getting lower and lower with my squat depth and I tried for my max, ass-to-grass, and only just managed to lift it. I was a split-second away from dropping it. Could have really hurt myself :/. Lesson learned.

What do people recommended for abs? Normal sit ups seem to kill my legs. Thanks

I don't directly train abs. Mine get hit with doing deadlifts and squats. Hanging leg raises, crunches...

Frozen v-sit - just do it until you feel like you're about to have an aneurysm, short rest then do it a few more times.

Scissor kicks and flutter kicks are good too, but better if you do them it a sort of v-sit position, being a wuss and doing them lying on your back with your hands under your bum is for normal civilians, not SAUKers.

Personally I'm not a fan of working abs. I feel like most compound weight lifting moves work the abs indirectly anyway. I probably would be a fan if I had a flat stomach.

Gonna hit the gym tomorrow. Ive been working on my rotator cuff rehab and fingers crossed it repairs itself. Its my own fault - iv not been doing enough strenghtneing of it. If I do any pressing movement I get discomfort. Problem with fitness is the eagerness to want to do things too quickly. This can be detrimental to the body

@ jj

Jam, you would build some bloody muscular endurance, but not necessarily tons of size or strength.

For any exercise though you want to also work the opposing muscles, in this case the back otherwise it can lead to muscular imbalance and injury
