I just came home from work. Had overtime due to a business party my department had to operate and then having to reorganise the hall the party was in into meeting rooms.

I’m only a few weeks in. I was considering quitting the job although my manager persuaded me to stay. After today, I definitely want to leave. I feel I can be in a better suited job.

This is a major reason I find an autism diagnosis important for me. I’m British but so far my job history consists of working in warehouses short term, being a kitchen porter, a university housekeeper and this. Mostly jobs that don’t involve much interaction, relatively low skilled and with mostly colleagues who are immigrants. I feel I should be able to aim higher but my low confidence which is maintained by social difficulties makes it really hard to aim higher. I think I don’t want any more hospitality jobs.

I was briefly thinking of studying again but idk what I want to study. I know I don’t want to do this job and minimum wage blue collar jobs long term. If I studied I would have to share the report I got from my assessment as I think the social aspect of college puts me off studying.

^Ah, I need to get somewhere before my face goes.

Thank you everyone. I have not heard, so I need to chase up. This job market is a gift, and I'm not making the most of it. I have not found my periodic motivation that would come around every so often since hitting 40. But I need to, I am losing my sanity, and well, the time that is gone is the time that is gone.

I really ought to start doing something with my Saturday nights. Get out amongst it. Or do something during the Sunday. I'm still thinking about the barmaid from Tuesday. And others. It's given me a little desire. That little black skirt ... a couple of tiny rips in her hose. Cute, but not beyond reach. Soft goth look. Probably likes to be tickled..

Go for it, spud! You've got a lot to offer a gal. Like a new pair of tights.

And I agree with biscuit! Push aside Gladys (gently of course) and embark on a night of fine dining and stimulating conversation!

Although if you want any tips on the stimulating conversation part, then it's probably best to ask someone else about that. What with me just having finished dedicating a song to a box of chocolates. While also having a curry noodle stain on my t shirt

Anyway

Best of luck!

Why The Apprentice Australia has Alan Sugar on instead of some local crappy businessman from down under. Surely they could have dug up some two-bit dodgy market trader from their own hemisphere instead?

Surely the most logical choice would have been wealthy local businessman Lou Carpenter.

A conversation about food in another thread reminded me of the past: When I was 10 or so and lived in North Wales I had a Chinese friend whose parents worked in, and lived above, a chip shop. I used to get free chicken and chips occasionally (yum). After I moved to Brighton, I used to write to him for a while and then I stopped. I haven't seen him for years. I feel a bit sad thinking about how I've often not tried to keep in contact with friends.

I wish the sun would come out. It might be mild for the time of year but I'd rather it was colder and sunnier than mild and dull. I do need the sun to lift my mood, at least when I'm stuck at home when not at work.

Only in America could an Actor accidentally shoot and kill someone while on the set of a movie. I can't imagine how Alec Baldwin must be feeling now, especially as he has always been so anti guns..

Why can't I just get out of the front door and do what I should be doing. If I don't get a grip I shall end up acrophobic

I quite like your style of writing and I love your posts, Choirgirl. I think you're great too

ConsolidaIt can feel even more punishing to have to step outside now the cold and dark days are coming back. Is it only today, or has it been longer?

I hope you can find the strength to do what you want to

I had come here to say that as soon as my kids are in bed, I just feel so lonely, so empty and overwhelmed by life at the moment, and just want to run away from all the responsibilities. It's been a few months, and it's gotten to the point that I anticipate it as soon as they're finishing their dinner.

But I feel a bit better now.

Please don't quote.

Just watched the comments to a popular barber youtuber and see some of the criticisms are from people who don’t seem to know the art of barbering. Maybe goes to show that not every opinion on the internet should be taken so seriously.

Maybe I needed to encounter an ex colleague I got really attached to that ended up ghosting me. She would also have periods where she didn’t speak to me then would be friendly. Gossiped about others to me, I’m certain she did the same with others and spoke behind my back about me in bad ways.

I’m thankful I went through the experience because now I know when to not take someones opinion to heart as they could be speaking out of intimidation or jealousy.
