Re: What are you looking forward to?
I can't wait until my week off.
Working 12 hour nightshifts absolutely wipes me out and no matter how much I sleep during the day, I'm guaranteed to be exhausted going in. This doesn't happen if I work days. On my week off I plan to...sleep, maybe eat a ready meal and then sleep some more and then probably more sleep í*¾í´£ |

Re: What are you looking forward to?
It's four weeks to go until I'm heading back to London for another two night stay...
Since my last post on this, the tickets and accommodation has been sorted. Due to a limited amount of direct trains (I hate changing - it stresses me out), there's actually a very good chance my brother won't be arriving until a few hours after I and my father arrive - so it'll be just the two of us to 'fend for ourselves' for a few hours down in the capital. I'm actually quite looking forward to that as I know my way around the Euston area well enough and I've certainly gained at least some confidence on the tube from previous visits - so bring it on if that's the case! I don't mind testing myself in situations like this - where I can give myself my own challenges I know I stand at least half a chance of succeeding. |

I spent a lot of time travelling through Euston when I was working in London a lot. Yeah it's not too bad of a station, pretty small and uncomplicated and Euston Square is a great tube station only a five minute walk away. I hope you have a great time there |

I know Euston as a train station gets quite a lot of stick in comparison to neighbouring Kings Cross and St Pancras, but I've never had a problem with it personally. It's perfectly functional and still miles better than the train station I'll be setting out from! Euston Square is where I got my Oyster Card from, as I met my brother at a pub just around the corner from there when we started these 'get togethers'. That reminds me actually... I need to dig that out. I know I can't put money on it online as after so many weeks of no use, it gets deactivated until it's tapped onto a card reader again - so that's one of my first tasks when we get there... |

Re: What are you looking forward to?
Euston is being rebuilt and I agree, Euston allowed me to get a 1:34am train home last night as I finished work late. Much better than the nightbus that would have drunk people most likely and take an hours journey to get home.
I'm fearful and interested to meet an aunt and cousin next week for my first time ever. |

Re: What are you looking forward to?
^ Euston is ugly and I don't think they are doing anything to make it less ugly apart from eventually removing all the building work.
I mean it functions OK, though there's not much in the way of things to do while you wait. It feels more like a bus station than the likes of Kings Cross, Waterloo or Victoria. I was thinking the other day that there's loads of roof space there, they could cover the station in solar panels and cut their grid power usage to a fraction (during a sunny day at least) |

What I also like about it isn't only the familiarity (although I'm sure the progression of building work may throw me a bit) but the Euston Tap pub is right outside on the entrance road where the busses come in and go out. The Crown & Anchor on Drummond Street is also worth a visit - but I've not been in there for almost six years, now. Russell Square is also little more than a 10 minute walk away. There's a lovely Italian coffee shop there which I've forgotten the name of. Anyway – one week to go…and I’m still none the wiser what time my brother is supposed to be arriving! It’s typical of him though – nothing unusual! |

Re: What are you looking forward to?
Yeah I was confused by that too, I never knew there were pie restaurants. I know of pie and mash shops, but Appear mentioned 'menu', and with "pie and mash" shops, the title is the fking menu. But sounds interesting, I can imagine a restaurant that specialises in pie would be nice.
But now I'm even more confused by pie in a sandwich. What. In. The. Actual. F**k. |

Re: What are you looking forward to?
'Restaurant' might have been a stretch because it's quite informal and it's not like loads of complex cooking is involved. It was damn good though. And cheap for a meal out really. Will definitely be going again.

My cat finishing her breakfast and the sound of her running up the stairs to get to my room and jump on my bed for a squadge.
My cats aren't related so they're very competitive. It's always a race to see who can get to my bed first in the morning. When the largest of the cats is the winner her purr is extremely loud When she's not the winner, her purr is like a little whisper |
