Abortion is a contentious subject and rightly so, it is never a decision that should be taken lightly. The important thing is that, in this country at least, it is a legal and accessible option for women. If I ever had an abortion, it's not exactly something I'd casually bring up at the dinner table. |

Re: Were you planned OR an accident?
I have never asked them, and I don't think I could ever be arsed to do so.
However, based on how they moved into a larger home (this was back when people could buy homes) when they were expecting me suggests that I was planned so some degree. |

Most definitely an accident, most probably a mistake.

Re: Were you planned OR an accident?
You know, its never really something I've spoke about to my Mam or Dad. My Mam was madly in love and my Dad was a bit mad so at a guess I'd probably say, a not so wholly unexpected accident.
I'm more curious as to why you asked this? |

Re: Were you planned OR an accident?
This thread has made me realise I was actually an accident. The timing was off. They were clearly planning a baby a year later. My dad was back studying full-time when I was born.

Re: Were you planned OR an accident?
Probably an accident although I don't think my 'mother' worried a jot about actually getting pregnant because she knew she could just dump or abandon any resulting baby. She did this at least 7 times but kept the last 4!!
I was premature and very underweight and so dropped out of her womb wherever my 'mother' was living. I ended up in Hospital where the Nursing staff called in a Priest to Christen me because it was thought I was going to die. By then my 'mother' had long gone and I never 'saw' her again. She dumped my brother at the same Hospital the following year and just walked out on him too. I don't know what became of him. This may sound harsh and I'm sure some people may disagree, but some women should be forcibly sterilised so that they can't keep bringing children into the world that they don't want and she was definitely one of them. She was reckless and extremely neglectful and seemingly still doesn't care that her actions caused her children a life time of emotional issues I probably had a lucky escape. |

Re: Were you planned OR an accident?
@Consolida - that was a really sad read. I can't believe the heartlessness of some people, especially when it comes to their own children. It doesn't sound harsh at all and I completely agree. How disgusting. I'm sorry.

Re: Were you planned OR an accident?
^ Thanks for your kind words
It's okay, I was eventually put up for adoption and undoubtedly had a better life than I probably would have done with her. |
