How psychopathic are you?

I recently came across this online test on the Channel 4 website, which allows you find out the extent that you have psychopathic traits. Some people have psychopathic traits to a larger extent than others. Here's the link if you want to take the test:

I took it and came out with a score of 6% on the spectrum.

(The test is just for fun though - it might not be completely accurate.)

Are you on the spectrum, BFG? I was wondering the same thing, Autism and psychopathy on these tests... I just don't think they're refined enough. The book hasn't gone into that too much as yet.

Yeah, that level of intense focus can very valuable in a number of professions like engineering. Labels are only really needed if they'll make a positive difference to your life, if not, why bother?

hmm, there's a thought. The test is presumably loosely based on the standard psychopathy questionnaire (the Hare checklist I think it's called?), which is supposed to mainly detect empathy deficits, while autism and asperger's are basically to do with deficits in social understanding. You'd assume a test refined enough would be able to separate the two. I wonder if there are problems confusing autism like conditions in Hare's checklist too.

I don't agree the questions label you as a psychopath- I think the only perhaps valid one is the animal one.
And curiously this test I imagine would find a relation between career progress and their '% psychopath'. That wouldn't surprise me.

I can just picture some idiots on a fantasy trip getting above 50% and thinking themselves super hard, or "woh I'm a psycho, don't **** with me" etc etc.

I have that book but haven't got round to reading it yet. I have read his other one "Flipnosis: The Art of Split-Second Persuasion" which to be honest was more pop psychology then anything else, did have an excellent chapter on psychopaths though.
