How often do you hoover?
It's come to my attention, due to some health issues caused by dust, that I haven't been hoovering the flat often enough. I used to only hoover once a week or so, or when it was really needed, but maybe that's not enough?!
How often does everyone here hoover? |

Re: How often do you hoover?
Usually daily, but sometimes every 2-3 days if we're feeling lazy. We have wood floors and a lot of rugs so crumbs etc are easily visible. Our kitchen floor is black so that really shows up all the crumbs
I've mentioned this before, but our upstairs neighbour hoovers upwards of about 5 times every day. He'll hoover at 8pm, then at 9pm, then 10.30pm and so on, continuing to hoover past midnight. We think he may have OCD or a mental health problem. We're having to make a complaint nonetheless as it's waking us up. |

Re: How often do you hoover?
^ That is definitely too late for hoovering, particularly multiple times! Maybe he does have a mental health condition. Atleast you know your neighbour is a clean person...

Re: How often do you hoover?

Re: How often do you hoover?
We don't mind so much during the day, even if he is hoovering every other hour. But once it gets to around 8pm I'd just like him to give it a damn rest!

^ Maybe he can be asked to switch to a dustpan and brush after 8pm!

Re: How often do you hoover?
I mop the bathroom after each shower (twice per day). I sweep the kitchen whenever it's got bits on the floor and mop whenever it gets something sticky on it. I vacuum the diner, hall and bedrooms around once per month as they don't get dirty.

Re: How often do you hoover?
Once I tried to hoover but the thing wasn't picking up any dust... I went to change the bag but the bag had basically dissolved and a load of moths were living inside my vacuum cleaner...

Re: How often do you hoover?
I have a Dyson, not a Hoover
Anyway, the kitchen floor I do daily, as its wood and the bits of food etc. really show up. The hallway, dining room and lounge I usually do 2-3 times a week. The rest of the house, i.e. upstairs, usually only once a week. |

^ Ooh fancy
I debated using the word vacuum cleaner, but I thought most people probably say hoover. I could be wrong though! |

Re: How often do you hoover?
Several times a day. I can't relax if the place isn't tidy, it really puts me on edge. I can't describe the profound horror of witnessing my son munching on crackers just after I've hoovered. I miss him being two foot tall and barely able to reach his own head. Now he just gets the footstool out and helps himself, looks at me like 'what up, bitch'. Although he still can't reach the top shelf of the fridge, he tried to reach a milkshake once and it fell on his head. I laughed. Then gave him a cuddle and a kissy better. Then I laughed again. How do you like them apples, Peter Crouch.

Re: How often do you hoover?
Please let there be loads of fellow slobs who are too embarrassed to post in this thread, I'm feeling ashamed. I find it almost impossible to care most of the time about things like hoovering. I know I should, but I don't.

Re: How often do you hoover?
^ Here. I'm pretty shaken that people do it so frequently. How the hell can I stay on my high horse when they do? Like once a week would be high frequency for me.
I bet none of you frequent hooverers floss daily, do you? Well I do. I've also only had around 3.2 biscuits in the last 3 months (don't ask about takeaways though). And thus my feet remain a'firmly stirupped. |

Re: How often do you hoover?
If I hoovered once a week I'd start thinking I was Hyacinth Bucket.
I don't floss though. It always felt funny to me, incongruous with my mouth and teeth zone, like clipping your nails with a hole puncher. |

Re: How often do you hoover?
My mum is a bit obsessive for changing bedding and hoovering and stuff
I had a lot of skin..issues growing up, they ended with "contact dermatitis" I actually think its more dust related, as in..touching some dust then rubbing my eyes I can feel an episode coming on. Every single time I used to feel a flare up coming on (eyes swelling/red/puffy eyelids) my mum was there with the get the bedding changed, get hoovered! I swear every single time I changed my bedding it made stuff worse. I have much less flare up these days, I changed my bedding.....not very often *cough* and I hoover even less....*cough cough* I aint hoovered my area in months , but I have no skin issues! |

Re: How often do you hoover?
Its funny i'm an obsessive hooverer at the cattery, but not at home.
Maybe I should get a cat to improve my hoovering motivation. . Just a thought.... |

Re: How often do you hoover?
I think it does also depend on how many people live with you and the types of flooring that you have.

Re: How often do you hoover?
The big admission for me is that I've lived in my house for almost 2 1/2 years and not got round to getting any carpets yet, so the only things which get hoovered are the sofa, curtains and mattress, although I couldn't comment on frequency, it's "as and when". The floors get swept and mopped (also as and when, but my partner is a bit of a clean freak so I'd say more often now than a year ago).
I remember Dawn French once said that if you've been on a night out and come home, then the kitchen floor you wake up on is crunchy, it's time to think about cleaning. Wise words! Sent from my SM-J530F using Tapatalk |

Re: How often do you hoover?
Its judgemental of me, but I kinda think if you find yourself hoovering everyday you might be responding to "psychological or emotional dirt" rather than keeping the house clean. But then I work outside with soil all day so maybe "dirt" as a concept has become a bit skewed for me.
