Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
^ Raks, I hope you can take some of your very helpful and supportive advice to others on here and start being a little kinder to yourself. Comparing yourself unfavourably to other folk is never a good thing and besides, their lives are seldom as great as it may outwardly appear. Although I have a beloved husband and son I don't have any friends and my life is pretty purposeless on a day to day basis. Currently my depression is so severe I'm ashamed to say that I didn't even get out of bed yesterday. I can't talk for other people here, but you certainly aren't inferior to me!
I've seen your photo so I can confidently say that you have a lovely face and the horrible one that you see looking back at you in the mirror is not the one that everyone else sees. I don't know if you have looked up Body Dysmorphic Disorder but you might find that you are able to identify with some of that. As for your personality, it's clear from your posts that you are supportive, empathetic and compassionate to others during their darkest times. I can't think of any better personality traits for anyone to have. However, please reserve a little of that kindness for yourself - as you deserve it too!! |

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
Tired.
Was at cat sanctuary where i'm now doing the pony and the donkey as well. Trouble with lock down though is everyone is so in need to chat that you can't get anything done I got there late at 9 am sort out the resident cats but somehow didn't get round to the ponies till 11.45! apart from letting them out doing there hay. We didn't leave till nearly 3 pm. Dunno why everyone comes and has a chat with me, maybe cause i'm quiet and listen I suppose. it certainly isn't for my charm or wit! |

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
Worried. It looks like my store will be wanting everyone back come June. The real worry is I share a house with a family member who's shielding, which I'll obviously compromise being around the hoi polloi.
I'd happily move to a place of my own if my pay weren't so shit. Urh, **** knows what I'll do. 2020. I've had better. |

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
@ imperfect perfectionist - How are you fake? You come across as pretty authentic to me
Btw, how did the online kickboxing class go? @ Mike.Kzov - I'm guessing you aren't able to work from home? I certainly don't think your employer should pressurise you to return to the store in June if you have no alternative but to live with someone who is shielding. Obviously your risks of catching the virus are considerably higher once you return to working with the 'hoi polloi' which could potentially be very dangerous for the person you're living with. Your employer really should make allowances for people in your situation. I mean, even BoJo (sort of said) go to work if it's sensible to do so, but continue to stay at home for now if it isn't. Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
^^^ Thanks for the reply :-) I've been in touch with HR and explained the situation, they say they're at the stage of coming up with plans for how there can be a safe working environment. My regional boss said I'd never be expected to jeopardize my loved ones' well being.
Sigh, we shall see. ^ It sounds like they're making efforts to keep you safe, at least. I hope so, I wish the government would get firmer and clearer on everyone wearing masks. It just seems a no brainer way of reducing transmission |

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
Absolutely knackered. ****wit of a neighbour had nightclub level music until after 4am, I dropped off for a while and he then woke me up banging and talking (loudly) to some girl at 6.30am ish. Going on about "i'm soo drunk" .
So another round of complaints *sigh* begins - hopefully the new landlord company will be better. Hopefully he'll be passed out for the day now. I feel zombiefied. least I have tomorrow to look forward to - going up to the downs and to the lupin field I used to help with and meet my friend J (at a distance). |

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
^ What a thoughtless idiot he is. Do you have any noise cancelling headphones? Might be worth investing in some in the mean time, although maybe not the easiest for sleeping with.

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
^ I use a really cheap (like £30) pair of inner ears ones, they have some noise cancelling but not much. There not bad for blocking out like mild gaming or him talking/carrying on with his mates but the music is so loud and the bass so penetrating that they can't block that out. So instead I ended up watching a documentary with loud music with the headphones at 2 am and the volume cranked up to a really unhealthy level. Still could hear him somewhat
I would invest in proper more expensive NC ear phones if I could be sure they really work. |

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
We had hotels booked for rammstein, tewksbury medieval festival and london comicon. Just finished cancelling them all today. We paid upfront for london comicon so its nice to have that reimbursed. I'm putting it towards going to the knotts end boathouse at ullswater when this is all over, its pricey but somewhere i've always wanted to go and it will make me feel less bummed out and have something to look forward to given this current nightmare. Whenever i get stressed out i think about sitting on the jetty and how peaceful it will be. I wish i could just live there, its like paradise.

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
Whose strongly interested in socialism on here?
Years ago, someone recommended a book to me which was a critique of capitalism. I remember it mentioning capitalism as like a veil and thought that people didn't even know how oppressed they were because capitalism was seeped so deeply in our lives. Can't remember who the thinker was, nor do I remember who suggested I read it. Any idea? |

Now it's all hot and I'm having to have windows open, I'm reminded of how disturbing it is when you can overhear neighbours and people in the street. You know when you can only sort of hear what it is they're saying, and your brain interprets it as being about you? I like it when the weather's sunny and warm, but it doesn't half bring out the paranoia in me.

I wouldn't say I'm a die hard socialist, but I think we need to give people opportunities to do well and contribute, no matter what their skills happen to be. We also need to make some effort to redistribute the wealth, due go the inequalities that seem to occur with a free market society. Capitalist societies focused on technology and reasearch are better off overall, but some people feel left behind because of the way the wealth ends up being distributed. So in this country I would honestly be in favour of a moderate labour government. If it's too extreme it could actually end up hurting society as a whole. Although, right now I just hope all this money printing doesn't break the financial system; I just hope it's a short and sharp recession. Looks like there are a couple of promising vaccines now, and deaths are slowing down so I'm feeling relieved we are now over the worst. |

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
Too hot and tired. Not physically tired but a bit ppl tired.
Had a nice day though. Went to the lupin field, then back to town, then a long walk including round an old ruin, open fields, polo fields and woodland. Some bits where really busy though which I found a bit off putting. J knows lots of ppl and is very sociable so kept being introduced to ppl and stand chatting (at a distance) which I seem to have found surprisingly tiring. Have only just got home. Had hopes my neighbour was out, but he arrived home 2 mins after me And he's started with music... |

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
I think I've gone a little bit mad during this whole lockdown thing, I wonder if psychologists and psychiatrists are going to have a field day with this assessing all the different ways people have gone absolutely off the chain during all of this.
Everything is open here again now anyway, but given that I'm not one for going out much anyway the most exciting things I've done are a trip to Lush for some toothpaste and a trip to Starbucks just because it was practically empty when I walked past it on Sunday morning. It feels like everyone is all of a sudden making the most of being able to get out and about again and my life now is pretty much the same as it has been all through the lockdown phase. I have this weird feeling that theres 8-10 weeks of life that I need to catch up on and that I've missed out massively when the sad reality is that the past 8-10 weeks have pretty much been business as usual for me apart from the working from home bit. |
