Notice of Permanent Bannings

SAUK is an open, inclusive and supportive environment, and in order to ensure that it stays that way, we have posting guidelines in place. I'm sorry to say that some members will ignore those guidelines from time to time and find themselves banned from the board as a result. Members will normally be given a warning first, followed by either a temporary or permanent ban, and, in general, bans will escalate as follows: 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, 1 week, 1 month, permanent.

Permanent bans are never issued lightly, and are only undertaken when all other avenues for conflict resolution have been exhausted. All permanent bans are discussed amongst the Moderating Team and agreed upon by consensus - no one individual is responsible for imposing them.

In order to ensure that members of the board are made aware of someone having been permanently banned from SAUK, we have decided to post a notice of each permanent banning, as and when it occurs, with a brief explanation as to why a permanent ban has been issued, where appropriate. Please be advised, though, in line with our existing guidelines regarding discussing moderating decisions, that this does not mean that it is acceptable for discussion of permanent bans to take place in the public forums; far from it - this thread is here so that it becomes unnecessary for such discussion to take place.

Permanently excluded from here on safety grounds, following recently being removed from another mental health forum. The person in question was found to have been manipulating female members at that site, and had extorted significant sums of money from at least one of them by way of blackmail.

Grinder has been banned for violent and aggressive behaviour at a SAUK meet. We kindly ask that no one shares the details of SAUK meets or support groups with perma-banned members.

SAUK meets have typically been safe and enjoyable, and many have found them to be a significant part of their recovery. However, we would also like to remind people of the meets safety advice, and the general advice.
