Thanks, Mr. I did some fiddling (some of it even with my phone) and the alerts seemed to have stopped, but my battery appears to be on its way out. Thought I'd need a new phone, but seems like you can get a third party battery replacement for about a tenner, assuming they don't blow up after a couple of charges.

Sooo can anyone tell me why goggle photos app on my phone seems to be syncing and backing up photos on my phone and is up to date. But looking at my google photos account on my laptop it stops at December last year? How do I get this up to date? as it's there that I really want access to my photos and videos.

I'm scared to delete off my phone gallery in case I loose them until I see them properly on my google photos account.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has used a sad lamp, as I'm inside more than before I was wondering if this might improve my mood and make me a bit happier.

^I haven't tried that, but it's something that helps some people that live in very dark regions during the winter months. Another thing is simply getting some sunshine, so getting out and excercising can help also.

If you was going to rent a flat, would you choose the ground, or other floors?

^ For me, never the ground floor. You have everyone coming past your flat to reach the other floors and it's the most likely to be robbed - plus, unless the soundproofing is really good, you'll hear all the footsteps in the flat above.

I would go for the highest floor available, ideally the top floor; I probably wouldn't be interested in anything with more than three or four floors (including the ground) anyway, but I'd always prefer to have nobody living above me (and depending on the building, you may have access to the loft).

This all day long.
Hardly any noise, great view, you can leave your windows open, very low risk of getting burgled, walk around naked no one can see.
Bit of a pain moving furniture in initially, but long term always the best option.

Agree with all of this. Up until now, I had always lived on the top floor. I'm now on the first and I wouldn't do it again

I live in a ground floor flat and we do hear footsteps from above (luckily there's only one flat above ours.) We do worry about opening the windows, especially at night incase someone climbs in! Also there is the worry about walking around naked incase someone sees through the window, even with net curtains and proper curtains.....

Hmm, the positive points are I guess if there's ever a fire or something you can just climb out of a window, and it's maybe a bit cooler or the ground floor than higher floors. Also we have a bit of garden space which is nice.

Also taps.

Flat walls can be very thin. Coupled with the positioning of internal pipework, individual acoustics, in some flats you really hear people turn their taps on & off! A booming thump & clunk.
It gets amplified in the flats above/below, can cause disputes, when, in all reality, all the person is doing is just very normally using their tap.

Has anyone on here been making face masks? Curious to know what pattern people are using, and if anyone is finding that their masks are slipping down at all when talking etc. I’ve made a few but I’m going slightly mad trying to get them to fit perfectly.

Home life: unsettled. It's complicated. I'm still alone but living elsewhere.

Work life: busier than xmas shortly after lockdown began, staying consistently so till .. about a month ago. Now, still relatively busy but more manageable. Think xmas will be mega, especially if we go into lockdown again.

Is it unreasonable to expect an able-bodied woman to help move an object as a two person lift?

We're talking about a sofa. Nothing tricky, no stairs involved.

My work life hasn't changed because I wasn't working before it started; my home life changed because, when the social distancing restrictions were introduced, I was staying at my partner's house, but we split up one month later. From that point, I returned to living alone and with the restrictions on travelling outside our own areas and being somewhat short in the friends and family department, I was totally isolated for a while (although I was keeping in touch with people via e-mail and WhatsApp).

I used the time to address my issues with weight and fitness (my partner was heavily dependent on convenience foods and although I had tried introducing home cooking, this was only 40% of our diet), first just returning to 100% home cooking and introducing a daily exercise routine, then one month's detox diet (in June). As restrictions eased, I started to travel to see one of my friends (we met twice) and have met another more recently.

Since July, although of course there are still restrictions and I've not been within two metres of anyone, I've been able to travel again (my previous trip, to Turkey, had ended in mid-March, with having to find an alternative route home after that country suspended all flights to the UK on the day I was due to return) and enjoyed some socially-distanced walks with the Ramblers and meetup.

Overall, things haven't changed that much. I've been alone for four months now and although it was becoming difficult towards the end of the isolation period, I'm now appreciating freedoms I once took for granted. Travelling is more enjoyable, since aeroplanes are only 1/3 full and the places I'm visiting are much less crowded than usual (I've never travelled in August before) and it's quite nice, in general, not to have people invading my space. Things like wearing masks and hand sanitising have become second nature, to the point where I may continue when not legally required to do so.

Is anyone else's Prime app, via the tv, slow as **** to navigate? Mine's excruciatingly slow so i just end up using the search feature, which works fine. It's annoying though cos i can't browse properly, like i can with Netflix, so i'm not seeing what's available at a quick glance.

Does anyone else kind of like the face mask business from a sa point of view?

At first I hated a mask but as I've gotten used to them I find I quite like having my face covered for random interactions.

I'm quite happy with face masks, I've been in Nice and Marseille for the past week where they have to be worn in outdoor areas too, so I've been behind one a lot of the time, but I don't feel any advantage from an anxiety perspective. I am hoping, though, that now they've been introduced into European culture, people might choose to wear them when they have colds and other communicable ailments, as they tend to do in South East Asia.

I don't really mind wearing them at all - I've worn them abroad in the past for things like taking public transport when I had a cold, so it never feel like something I had to get used to. I think there's definitely been a permanent change in culture too. I wouldn't be surprised if we see people wearing them here every winter from now on. It's probably a good thing. We might even see fewer cases of colds and flu between people doing that, being more cautious of others and washing their hands more.

I wouldn't say I feel more confident while wearing one though. In fact, I felt a little self-conscious when in a pharmacy the other week since I had to shout to be heard through the mask and because the person I was talking to was so far away.
