Good post, been there... otoh if someone genuinely doesn't know something I don't mind helping them. Boundaries, very important.

There is a new shop just down the road from me, I think I'm going to attempt walking there sometime next week (Accompanied). I may even go in the daytime

^^ Yeah, I think the trick is to not care so much about what others are thinking about you and instead focus on what you need to do, maybe just have a list of things to do and you check them off like a video game or something. What have you got to lose?

^^/^ agree. We all need to focus more on the bigger picture. Maybe then *we* will care less what *they* think of *us*. It's not easy, but there are folks here who have managed it, so we can take inspiration from them.
I have good days, and not so good days, but slowly my trend is one of progression.

Ultimately, in the grand scheme of things, what others (except for our nearest and dearest of course) think of us doesn't mean a damned thing. Intellectually, I already know this. Now I just have to get my subconscious mind to follow suit.

You can think positive and it can be incongruous with your actual experience.

Wondering if anyone on here plays music professionally or is in a group or something similar!

I'm sure it's gross to everyone in the vicinity, but having the guy readily kiss and cuddle me in the street, sat in the corner of the pub and even when I was being served at a checkout in Tesco when we were slightly tipsy the other night feels f**king fantastic. It makes it very hard to believe any negative thoughts about him not really being that into me, etc. And we've not yet had a single homophobic slur thrown our way either.

Yeah, It doesn't bother me to witness it personally, but I'm glad things are actually improving in the real world and not just in the media and through laws and public forgiveness of people punished for homosexuality, but it no doubt still happens just in a less direct way.

Well done, keep it up. I just returned from a session with my therapist which isn't much help for me personally but I am slowly improving and I feel much calmer and free of anxiety atm, although I still feel tense, ashamed and depressed but i keep thinking it's my stupid brain and not the right way of reacting to things. I have made some gradual progress over many years, but now I still feel ashamed about my past anyway, so that's another thing.

My advice to anyone is to try practice being a bit more optimistic, I think being confident in ourselves is important for success in literally anything.

I was trying to think of a cowboy analogy that expresses my happiness for you Appear. The closest I got was a few lines on how your cowboy boots must be overflowing right now. As well as being happy that you are getting your oats. So instead, I will just say that I'm glad that it's working out for you.

That's great Dimplesxo! I remember when I spent about 2 months indoors and it felt like a a colossal task just to go out anywhere. But once I built up the momentum of going out again, I started to feel more confident. I also had to remind myself that even walking down the street and back again was still progress. Because I find its so easy to discredit your own progress at times. So when I start to descredit my own progress, I remind myself of the snowman analogy. Where you start off with a single snowflake, and when you keep on accumulating those snowflakes, then those snowflakes will eventually build into a scarecrow. I was of course going to say a snowman, but truth be told, the whole snowman analogy didn't sound very hip when I typed it all out. Although do people still say hip these days I'm not sure. Although that question probably belongs in the 30 to 81 thread. Anyway, I think this post is going for a rambling record right now. So now seems like a good time to stop. But again, well done Dimplesxo on your progress!

I don't do anything creative anymore. I should. It would improve my mood at least, and at best might help me with the way I think.

I want to adopt a cat. Only an older one though. They live for ages and I don't like the idea of having to be responsible for one up until I'm about 49!
I'm still riding on the hope that at some point before then I will have a campervan and will be doing lots of travelling. Looks less and less likely but got to at least hope for the things you dream of doing don't ya?!

Someone please talk some sense into me. I've had a dental emergency for the last two days, I have not yet been to the dentist, even though they offered me a same day appointment, then I didn't go to the one today I phoned and said I couldn't make it and arranged to come in later. Have I gone? No. A fear of pain and dental shame is stopping me. It's one of those things where I can't seem to pull myself together. So I'm posting this so someone can ask me tomorrow if I have been.

I hope you've managed to get to the Dentist today as you will feel a million times better once the problem has been dealt with. The brief discomfort you might feel during dental treatment will be worth it if it takes away the worsening pain of a problem tooth.

I have a phobia of dentists and used to avoid them at all costs. Then I took my son away on holiday one year and ended up with the WORST toothache ever. Although I was a long way from home a busy Dentist took pity on me and whipped it out during his lunch break. I learnt my lesson and now go to the Dentists for regular check ups so any problem can be dealt with quickly before it reaches painful levels. The last time I went I only needed a clean and polish
It does also help if you have a kind and gentle Dentist.

Let us know how you got on Chiorgirl

Only just realised it's Valentine's Day today I turned down an offer of someone cooking me dinner tonight because I didn't feel in the mood for company, but I didn't know it was probably an attempt to do something for Valentine's Day. I don't really care about it anyway but I might have responded differently if I'd known it was for that. Oh well. Cities: Skylines it is.
