Why are some social occasions so long. I do understand that many people enjoy spending lots of time, many hours, with friends and family at social occasions. I'm sure there are people who want these things to last as long as possible, but for me it just seems like so much and so overwhelming.

I have to go to a wedding in a few months, and it's only small, but they are having the ceremony, then a meal at a restaurant, then going back to the couple's house for tea and cake etc. I'm not sure I can handle going to have a meal with people, let alone more after that. I may have to make some excuses to leave early!

Having their celebrations split up like that is perfect for making an excuse between things! I think people would be understanding if you only went to the first one or two events and then went home before they moved onto the next, especially since each thing is less important than the previous one.

I went to a wedding a couple of weeks ago and pre-arranged a taxi to come so that I would have an excuse to leave early. It was great.

^ Thanks. Yes I feel the same, I can maybe cope with a formal service but being expected to stand around and chat is torture.

Thoughts: I've been in the UK now for over a month. I've adjusted pretty quickly, and honestly I don't feel as much anxiety with going outside and doing whatever. I do feel like I had a heightened case of agoraphobia being in the states, while here it's really not as bad since I know that guns aren't nearly as much as a problem here. :/

(I read this morning after there was a mass shooting in Portland, that there has been 91 homicide deaths last year... Is it any wonder that I was terrified going outside?)

It’s hard to be a good leader I honestly think. Because to be a good leader you have to utilise others strengths and actually put others before you in a way. I think it’s very possible to be a good leader but it takes so much mental work it really good psychological health which is hard to achieve.

I think most people are not good leaders, even most leaders.

I’m seriously regretting having that cheese and onion slice from the bakery at lunch time.

My breath could paralyse a cat.

Dam right he is. In a weird way, he reminds me a lot of when my son was 1-2 years old. I adore the Mandalorian's relationship with baby Yoda.

I bet you're right, so no need to withdraw. But with his microscopic penis, I'm sure Putin does a lot of unintentional withdrawing.

My counsellor asked where I want to be in five years. I definitely want to be out of the hospitality industry.

I notice that since I have been using social media less, my music taste seems to have gone back to my music taste in the early 10's a bit. I would say it was probably more traditional but also a bit broader.

Thinking about it part of it is probably to do with dopamine as social media makes certain things seem more boring I think.

Interesting! Now this makes me think about how my music interests have changed over the years. Spotify is definitely the biggest influence for me now.

My sister's wedding stuff went on for three days! Friday night through to Sunday afternoon. It was too much. My other sister and I dipped out on the Sunday.

I have decided to pull myself out of my depression sinkhole for another couple of weeks (I hope).

Friday night, dinner with the families and bridesmaids/best man and partners.
Saturday: all day wedding. It went on.
Sunday: picnic and punting (which would have been nice, but I thought I'd be peopled out).

I have a carnivorous plant but I'm worried that it doesn't have any flies to eat anymore. I guess in the summer it can have some mosquitos but at the moment I'm worried that it is starving. It looks well but I'm just not sure if it lives through photosynthesis as well as from dissolving flies.

There are times when I am genuinely happy to be a part of my family and wouldn't swap them for the world but, every now and then, I look at certain traits and habits which have passed down the generations I wish to god I had been abducted at birth and given to a different family

phew, thanks Mo! I just suddenly worried that I bought a plant and I can't meet (meat!) its needs anymore!

This is what I have: Tina

They're excellent at combatting fungus gnats. Completely eradicated the problem.

oh wow, you've lucky to have never seen or been bitten by a mosquito in the UK!

I'm a bit of a mosquito magnet. Apparently they love a drop or two of O blood types, so I wonder if that's my blood type? Sometimes I have a bad reaction to mosquito bites e.g. walking around with golf ball sized bite on my ankle. I had to go to hospital to get it popped and keep going every day for a week when I was on holiday in Portugal to be monitored and have it swabbed with iodine and redressed. Then when I came back to the UK I had to keep going to the nurse twice a week. Thankfully it's only happened twice. Most of the time they just itch like crazy.
