Hmm, well part of it was just recognising that what I was worried about wasn't reality, (that everyone was looking at me and judging me negatively). But also that even if that was the case it really doesn't matter what strangers think, no-one really takes a huge amount of notice of others when they're out and if they look at me and think I'm weird for a moment it doesn't mean anything. It's not easy though! A book I read that was helpful was The Happiness Trap, by Russ Harris.

Kim Medcalf has returned to Eastenders (not sure how long ago because I rarely watch it nowadays) I fancied the pants off her when I was a teenager and damn she still looks fine nearly 20 years later.

I can't seem to maintain an optimum body temperature. I get really cold. Then I wrap up and get really hot and dizzy. I just woke up feeling like I've been in an ice bath. Now I'm trying to to stay awake until I feel warm so I can take a few layers off before I get too hot. It's like a really un-fun version of strip poker.

I feel like I would like to pay someone poor and affirming to hear me rant for three days (with scheduled breaks!) about my lesbian woes/formative experiences and how it's tangled with everything else. And another thing! Another thing that annoys/upsets me/that I've remembered! Ideally they wouldn't see my face though. I like the idea of setting up a confession booth but I'd like a comfy seat. This seems like the sort of thing you could pay for in Japan. Rent someone who is going to act as a saintly (it's okay, you're paying them) affirmative person. I would literally pay for this if I could find the right person but I don't think I'd want someone to know everything about me and who I am.

I also think that one of my biggest problems is struggling to cope well with negative emotions. I've been struggling with it again for the last five years or so, because I've lost my desire to move forward. Managing grief, anger, depression, anxiety, disappointed expectations, resentment, etc etc while being productively patient and moving your life forward bit by bit, adjusting your sails as you go.

^^^ Ha, George turning up at a party with pepsi and .. Ringdings? Whatever the hell those are!

I don't have any bad reactions from booze apart from the hangover (which is lessening as i age ). I don't get drunk neither. I get a merry buzz and ride it for as long as possible. I can't do other drugs (as much as i'd like to) because they aren't good for my head.

That's the one!

"I show up with Ring Dings and Pepsi, I become the biggest hit of the party. People would be coming up to me, "Just between you and me, I'm really excited about the Ring Dings and the Pepsi."

I had to look them up. They're another Drake's product

I didn't go to my LGBT meetup today. I was all ready, but then my social battery died. It wasn't nerves; I just really couldn't cope with speaking to people. I could barely cope with speaking to my dad. I would be hopeless at being in a typical relationship even if I were desirable; I'm sorry, I just don't want to talk to you or anyone today, maybe check on me at 10 pm, wouldn't wash with most people.

Maybe not a lot of people, but some people would be ok with that. Some people might even feel the same.

On a less serious note, I'm thinking how early is too early to have my tea/dinner/evening meal? I'm meant to be dieting but all I can think about is food

^ No, eat if you're hungry! It's important to eat regularly, especially if you're trying to lose a bit of weight.

If you wanna lose weight go keto. You naturally become less hungry on keto, for most people. Fat also makes you full surprisingly easily.

^ I think it's important to be careful of specific plans which cut out food groups. Better to concentrate on overall good nutrition, lowering calories a bit and doing some more exercise. But that's just my view.

I try not to eat between meals and think my diet is reasonably healthy but getting regular daily exercise is a big problem because, thanks to SA, I don't like walking around my local neighbourhood. I went out for a 5 1/2 mile walk yesterday (not in my neighbourhood) but I know that's meaningless if exercise isn't a regular daily occurrence.

@ Alone Is the Keto diet similar to the Atkins diet? I knew someone who quickly lost a lot of weight on that but it seemed to entail them eating plates of meat Losing 14 pounds or so shouldn't be so hard but i think climbing Mount Everest may be easier!

Moderation notice.

Posts discussing the subject of suicide and assisted dying have been moved to the basement and can be found here -

https://www.social-anxiety-community...light=thinking

We would remind forum members that heavier topics are more suited to the basement and that conversations in the lounge should be kept friendly.

^^ 5 1/2 miles is a lot, even if you do that once a week I would say that's great! Me and my partner have been trying to go for a walk once a week recently but often it's only for half an hour. Still, I think something is better than nothing if you know what I mean.

I think Atkins concentrates more on protein intake whereas keto is more about eating more fat.

^ I tend to row for 60 mins a day, I have not done it lately, I have a brand new rower in the box to replace my old one since March but I cant be bothered.

I used to love my 60 mins exercise, I think it improves mental health as well.

Consolida, I think fasting is good too where you eat all your calories in a 6 hour window and then eat nothing until the next day window I used to do 6am to 12 noon and then no more food until 6am the next day.

^ I think you should get your new rower out of that box and give it a go. I mean, what have you got to lose and maybe, just maybe, you might feel a little better for awhile afterwards

Thank you for your suggestion about Fasting. I've heard others recommend this for losing weight. It's worth considering, although I'm not sure I'd want to miss out on sitting down for dinner in the evening with my son or I'd hardly see him at all. Does it sound like I'm trying to make excuses here

^Seriously on keto it's surprising how satiated you feel after a meal with lots of fat. Intermittent fasting isn't hard usually on keto.

^ Sadly I also very much enjoy carbs, so keto wouldn't be for me. But I know some people do well on that type of diet so each to their own.
