I'm not far from the places where i grew up, so i've seen them change. First and middle schools would probably be unrecognisable and i don't think they'd bring up much in the way of emotion or memory. Senior school may be interesting, but i shouldn't imagine too 'traumatic'. The two places that i'd be most curious about going back to are my previous home and my Grandparent's home, but i know i won't like the inevitable change that comes with new owners.

Going back to the places I lived in as a nipper would be more interesting. One has turned into millionaires row, so it's more depressing.

This country is going to pot.

Dentistry in my area is all but privatised now. You can't receive NHS dentistry anywhere now except in the hospitals.....this is how privatisation of the NHS has begun.

I did well to have NHS treatment for 32 years.

My mum needed her ears cleared of wax recently - £90 for that now. Nice one - vote Conservative

I think she voted them! She voted Boris really, like many - cult of personality. It's small examples like this (re: ear wax removal cost) that people, who don't pay much attention to politics, need reminding of.... and, believe me, i will remind her over and over.

^^^^ Tell her to try olive oil in the ear first as it softens the wax and can sometimes help to clear it. (This privatising of particular treatments is a slippery slope!)

The worst thing is we'll have paid for the NHS all our lives in taxes and when we're old, when we need it the most, it won't be there, so we'll somehow have to pay again in very high geriatric care rates or end up dying of curable conditions too soon.
It's a fool's economy but it suits the idiotic, short-termist, cash grab politics of the Tories.

You said what... ?

I'm quite certain that ear wax removal is among a recent list of small procedures that the NHS don't offer any more. I'm sure i posted the list a little while back when i had my own ear wax issue and had to pay. You may get lucky and get offered it, but in general it sounds like you won't.

I think this has been an ongoing thing with her. She had to use olive oil before they attempted to remove the wax. Even then it was difficult to remove.

Yeah, she said to me they would remove it because I was having hearing problems and she thought that might help it. She said there's a chance it could lead to tinnitus to have it done though, so I said, "nooooooo!"

Nope my ear issues are still happening. But I think it's due to being told to put oil sprays and drops in my ears when I had an infection. I will never put anything in my ears again!

I was thinking of getting it pulled out with tweezers rather than putting anything in my ear, so I would go private for that. But I have a reflex. I will probably kick or punch someone who puts anything in my eyes or ears. I can't cope with it!

My current situation is really taking a toll on my mental health, I feel like I'm on the verge of a breakdown.
I'm too paralysed by fear to take action to change things.

My face really aches from my sinuses being bunged up. It feels like all the aunties in the world are squeezing my lil face at the same time.

I might smother myself with microwave Bagpuss and see if that helps.

I really like a fair bit of his output. I would like to say i was familar with all his stuff from the prime years. I was a keen listener of Spiders From Mars and Station to Station, also Scary Monsters. I don't know. It's a bit like the Queen passing. They're there all your life and then not. Only pop superstars aren't being replaced no longer, lol.
