its a great show the wire (its just about my favourite now), much the same way that "The Godfather" is considered a great film - but how many average viewers of films hold that opinion about something great? they're usually not considered "entertaining" enough. Its very dialogue driven. its definitely not for everyone, and i wouldn't recommend it for people who are at the time looking to be at the edge of their seat, and drawn in with cliche drama. Its worth looking up though to see if the premise of the show is interesting to you rather than going in expecting something like BB/TWD/GoT etc. On average i reckon its boring for many lol but its the most well written show i've come across.
Ah cool, how'd you like it?

I think I'll give it a go sometime, I do like a bit of action though so I'll probably be one of the ones who find it a let down.

I've been watching the last season of Boardwalk more, I'm seeing why so many people found it a let down. The arc with Nucky contains some of the best character development they've done, and gives the show a moral depth it often lacks...but apart from that it does feel rushed. It's like, let's do a cull of all the main characters before it's over!

The apprentice too, some evil witches on there. tore shreds out of each other.
some decent people too but most of the people on that show are close to the bottom of the barrel in terms of human beings imo.
snide, two-faced vultures.
the tasks are entertaining though!

bleurh, I'm determined not to watch it this year, I seemed to always end up getting sucked in!

I've caught up with the latest Hannibal season. It's too long and goes on some odd tangents, but the way the handled his imprisonment and orchestration of the Red Dragon was great. And of course Mads makes a wonderful Hannibal.

Hannibal is probably the best thing i've ever watched on tv, they even surpassed the movies.
gave the whole story a new level of depth i think.
i take it your watching season 3? i thought the same during the start of it but it really all does flow into something special.

my only problem with it though is the actor who played Francis Dollarhyde, not his acting because that was brilliant but his physique.
Dollarhyde is supposed to be powerful physically and it adds a new fear factor to the character, but the actor looked like a bang average guy.

someone in isolation suffering issues with aggression, self-esteem and identity (as well as his more obvious mental issues!) would surely train and train hard.

it's one of the reasons i loved the story so much because i could relate to the strength training and low self-esteem part of it.

I completely disagree, I thought Richard Armitage as Francis Dolarhyde was amazing. He worked very hard for that role, too. He was definitely not average by the end of it. Going by the pictures you have posted of yourself, you're definitely biased on what's 'average'!

Have you ever seen the movie, Red Dragon? Ralph Fiennes wasn't exactly 'built' in that either. I infinitely prefer Richard Armitage's potrayal though.

It was average at the beginning of season three. Then it went bad. Really terrible. Then it became amazing.

IMO/Fact

i guess you skipped over the part where i said his acting was brilliant?

i don't think i'm biased on what's average in terms of physique lol
he had fat hanging over his briefs with little muscle tone. Christian Bale has taken his body to the limits in trying to portray his characters as best he could.
As awesome as Armitage was with his acting, i just think going to the gym and eating right for a few months to enhance his physique and really get across the character portrayed in the books wouldn't have been too much to ask?

it's just my opinion though.

No, I didn't skip it, I just think you're being unfair in your assessment.
He did go to the gym and eat right...you're asking impossible standards. He wasn't playing Bane, or Batman in a massive Hollywood production. He was playing a (somewhat offensively so) minor character in an NBC TV series. He did good. He did great. I don't see what the problem is at all.

But if you're gonna criticise him for a slight muffintop, then fine.

If he had a true bodybuilder appearance, it'd have distracted from his character.

Another point I'd like to make before we leave it at that.

In the book. Which worked. In the book...don't understand why you don't have the same criticisms of Ralph Fiennes in Red Dragon TBH.
