I've got my supervision/pdp/appraisal tomorrow. Just been going over it and trying to fill it in a bit in preparation.
There is a bit in the annual review - Learning and development planning that I don't need to write anything - it will just be a discussion but I'm wondering whether I should mention I have been seeing a counselling psychologist for anxiety/PTSD. I really don't know whether to or not. I'm also on a waiting list for ASD though don't feel as inclined to mention that. As I have no idea what I think the outcome will be. I just wondered what other people thought to disclosing stuff? Should I or should I just keep shtum. One of the other managers (from a different team) knows but no detail. I might add I work for a mental health charity and only for 7.5 hours. I've turned down offers of more hours. This is the guidance notes: Wellbeing Good mental health and wellbeing in the workplace is vital to every one of us and to our future success. It helps us to not only achieve our collective mission but allows us to flourish and feel empowered in our lives. Take this opportunity to have a conversation about your wellbeing over the past year. • How has your wellbeing and mental health been this year? • Have you created a WAP, and if so, would you like to review it? • Consider making future commitments toward your own wellbeing in the coming year, including anything you or your manage could to do better support you at work. |

^ I would say try to be honest about mental health but in my experiences when I have been honest they don’t seem to take it well, I’m not sure what to advise really.

^ those questions sound like they're opening the door to be as supportive as they possibly can to make sure your work environment is is supportive. Opening up about mental health can be one of the most liberating things you can do - that feeling of others accepting it and wanting to be there for you. It takes away the shame and sometimes it takes away the hold it has over you - if that makes sense?
It sounds like this is the perfect time to be honest about it all, but of course it's completely up to you as it's a deeply personal thing. Do you feel comfortable to open up to them about it? (Also I'm not sure what WAP means in this context haha) |

Yes, I agree and do know what you mean about being open and it sometimes diminishing the hold issues have over you. I think I feel ok about it, i did mention about seeing a psychologist to one of the other managers (only cause I've known her for a very long time but left it at that). I guess I'll see how it goes in the meeting I guess. ![]() Quote:

Can anyone recommend an air purifier or dehumidifier? Mainly for people with allergies. I don’t have allergies, but I just want to see if it will help with the swelling in my ears.
It will be for use in the bedroom. (I won’t hold you to account if I don’t get on with it ![]() Thank you. |

I had a Levoit LV-H132. It was at the mid lower range/short of £100, i think. I didn't want to go cheap but because i was only using it for my bedroom i thought there was no need to spend too much.
I left it running over night, every night for a month or so - closed windows, etc. I didn't recognise any effect on my health. I moved it around the room - no effect. I checked the filter before i sold it and there was a bit of 'debris', so it did something. Obviously, it was bought for my hay fever issue, so it was something i could check to see whether there was any change......... nah ![]() |

![]() ![]() Quietman, that's great that you found one that works. Pricey, you say - I'll keep an eye out for any deals! Sorry that it didn't make a difference for you, Rocket Spud. I guess there's no escaping the evil pollen that wants to be up your nose so badly. I know someone who had to move away to find a place that has lower pollen counts. I'll do a little bit of research this evening. There seems to be a Phillips one that is reasonably priced and has good reviews. My sister has offered to let me borrow hers (an unbranded one) to see if it makes a difference before buying one. |

^ Wow, they must've had the worst time suffering with it to actually move home. I'm feeling fine now - apparently, around the time i had it bad, there was some sort of weather condition that coincided with other shit to create a mass of pollen that was 'smaller' and therefore more irritating to allergy sufferers.....

Has anyone got a 'silent' alarm? I'm concerned that i'm waking my downstairs neighbour up with my phone alarm* and i want to get something that will wake me without sound. I've looked at wrist watches that vibrate to wake you....

^ you can get those sunshine alarms that gradually wake you up with light. I'm tempted to try one as well as I find the dark winter mornings and evenings really hard to cope with because I'm a sunshine lover.
Nope, I didn't get a purifier because I'm just too indecisive! I kept looking and just not knowing which to buy ![]() |

Meh, i wouldn't trust a sunshine alarm to wake me on a consistent basis. Mind you, i'm not so sure about the wrist watch thing either, but i fancy that one of the two options.
Lol, just get one. Take a selection of five and innie minnie miny moe it. |

Well, you get the sunshine one and i'll get the wrist vibrator, and we'll reconvene here in a weeks time and share our new found knowledge.
Lol, my alarm is the same. Plus i've set it to vibrate and i reckon it takes me a while to wake. I place it on a book to soften the noise a bit. I've changed the alarm tone now so that it's less high pitched. |
