I always thought valentine's day was shit when you're single but actually it's worse when you're in a relationship and your partner would rather go out with their friends than go for dinner together.

^^ It's not particularly good for couples, it just puts pressure on people or causes problems when they don't want to do the same things. I've had enough, I'm boycotting it.

I just went off on a mind tangent about how great it would be if VD was a day where we were permitted to slap each others arses and the culture and code of conduct that would entail (without the animal blood!)

Yeah, a truely great society would be able to pull off such a thing, but we're not quite there yet...

But, yeah, definitely no goat or dog shenanigans - whoever thought of that had a sick mind.

I was reading this thread backwards. And my mind read VD as venereal disease day and then slapping arses. I was like....ay? .
I totally forgot it's valentines day!

Well, I tend to look at the newest post but I haven't been on here for a few days or so, so I was reading backwards to a point I recognised!

I saw today that you could send free e-Valentine's card to sick kids in hospital. Am alone or wrong in finding this weird? When I was a kid in school we gave a special person that we knew a 'love letter', but as an adult to a random kid? And also to someone you've never interacted with or don't know anything about?
Apparently it's becoming more popular every year for parents to send their children a card, which seems very strange to me. I suppose card manufacturers need to widen their market since it's mostly those over a certain age who are still into cards.

^ Thanks Consolida, yes I have!
I'm thinking I need to get a part time job out of the house because I'm getting cabin fever here. Or failing that a voluntary position if I can get my travel expenses paid.

Trying to explain mechanical things to someone 200 miles away with no mechanical aptitude via text messages is incredibly hard work

I wish I didn't feel the need to lie to someone about my sexuality.

Recently I've struck up a bit of a friendship with a fellow tractor enthusiast but he assumed that, when I was referring to my partner, I was talking about a woman.
So now he thinks I have a girlfriend and I don't know how to go about correcting him, I guess I'm also scared that his opinion of me will change if he knows I'm gay or bi or whatever the **** I am.

Just done evening rounds at sanctuary, tis a bit spooky in the dark on your own up there. Still everyone's safe and secure. Took me flipping ages to find Shabba (horse) in the fields. But got some donkey cuddles to make up for it .

My arse has been a musical instrument for most of today

Talking of which: where's biscuits got to? She had bad wind, not heard from her since.

^^ I'd been worried there's been some calamity and she's finally popped and rocketed to the moon! (Hopefully more likely she's gone for a little break somewhere and is ok.)

I went a bit far with the beard trimmer last night

I now look 12, I'm nearly 34 but I'm fairly sure I'd get ID'ed at the moment, if I was more adventurous(or bored) I'd go round seeing if anyone would ID me out of desperation

How people can just cut you out of their lives. An online friend I've known for over 5 years is ghosting me, and I don't know why or what I've done. It's really making me sad. I also just want to know they are okay in case they are going through some shit.

^ I've had something very similar happen recently, not with someone I've known anywhere near as long as that, but still after exchanging emails almost daily for months. It is disappointing, frustrating and sad when you don't know why they stopped talking to you, and a little worrying when you've opened up and told them some quite personal things. There's nothing you can really do about it though.
