IOW festival. I was supposed to be going to a day of this as a friend of mine wanted to see Pulp. I wasn't awfully keen on a busy festival but as it all fell through anyway it didn't matter. Watching some of it I kind of think hmm maybe it would have been fun.

We stayed in Shanklin which was very nice and had a lovely beach.

It's such a long time ago that I went it's probably all changed but the things I recall - Carrisbrook Casltle - the walls are a good walk and they had (don't know if they still do) donkeys working the wheel to bring water.
Osborne house and Swiss cottage. The needles - with the coloured sands. Everyone goes on about Black Gang Chine but we never went so I can't say.
There is a lot crammed in to the IOW though so plently to see and do. The only other thing I vividly remember is Butterfly world!

Dr Who: The Day of the Doctor

An absolute pleasure to watch. Features David Tennant, Matt Smith and John Hurt. Not to mention the lovely Bille Piper and Genna Coleman. The 50th anniversary special, if you haven't seen it yet, do so.

Watched the first episode of the new Black Mirror. Liked it at first, but it got a bit too daft and lacked the unrelenting bleakness from earlier series. Maybe it's some meta personalised-content hypnotic TV magic that it made me imagine my own version, which I much prefer...

The first 3 series are great but the later series are patchy. I'm on series 5 at the moment.

That Peter Crouch Film

I've only seen 20mins and of course it's heavily biased toward him, but what a person. I remember following football during his time and going through that period with him as an observer. It must be very difficult to be any sort of out of the ordinary bodily shape in any direction or career you take. People are people and say, whether or not they intend it, awful things, but he was very much in the public arena for quite some time and he endured more than his fair share and came out on top. What a guy. I could probably stop it there actually and not bother with the rest of the documentary cos i think it's gonna play out in a very similar fashion to what i've seen already

Just finished WPC 56. A brilliant series about a WPC in a 1956 police station.

Released about 10 years ago, it covers everything including racism, sexism, homophobia, police brutality and police corruption. Sadly only ran for 3 series.
