I'd like to hear the story behind the enigmatic .'s some here have. Sometimes I think I'd enjoy the air of mystery I'd exude if I went by 'Merritt.' Or maybe even '.Merritt' Imagine that!

I'm named after a joke from my school days when we were doing geography, their was this thing about a camel called Humphrey, and it became a thing at my brothers work place because one of my friends dad worked at the same place (a long Story).

Mine is pretty much who I am (or was): I used to be introverted, because I had no option, but then (about a year before I adopted this username) began to socialise a lot more. Now I socialise a lot less (but still more than in the old days) and don't feel that I'm an introvert, but I'm keeping the name.

My username used to have my name in it, but in a silly way. I miss that username.

When I first joined the forum I only used it for a month because I was so young and thought it was a bit rubbish and full of people much older, so I couldn't relate.

Then maybe ten years later a thought entered my mind that I'd posted some personal things etc. so came back and asked for my name to be changed to something as generic as possible and biscuits was that! But I started posting again. It was a fun vibe back then about getting to know people and making friendships - not as political/debatey/serious as the forum tends to be these days.

It was the name of a pony we used to have, though her name was actually Merrylegs. I like the name Merrylegs, but my own legs are terrible, so it didn't seem to fit.

I was playing a lot of bullet chess at the time. I was also eating a lot of junk food as well. So when it came to choosing my username, I decided to combine the two together.

That being said, it's also possible that I subconsciously choose that name for a different reason. The Chess part of me could represent my intellect. After all, I do have a GCSE in woodwork. And the Junkfood part of me could represent my feather duster. After all, I do know a few knock knock jokes. As for the ratio of my username:

The Chess part of me is about 25%

The Junkfood part of me is also about 25%

The remaining 50% of me is pure warmth!

Sorry for stealing your name. I'd offer to swap, but I'm not pretty or named Angela so I don't think it would work.

Not sure why I choose this. I struggle with ideas for usernames because I feel like it has to somehow represent who I am and I don't know how best to do that. Normally I'd just use my real name but I'd rather remain anonymous, plus I think that's already been taken as well.

I remember the wonderful Hardy. He was at some of the meets I attended way back in the day. He was one of the older members at the time so I'm thinking he could be 70 plus now I hope he is doing well.


I've used various usernames over the years and a lot of names had already been taken by other members/ex members, so as I like gardens and nature I decided to go with a plant or flower name as there's plenty of them. I came across the name Colsolida which is a genus of about 40 species of annual flowering plants in the family Ranunculaceae. The name of the genus comes from an archaic use of consolidation, meaning "healing", as a reference to the plant's medieval use for healing wounds. However, all parts of the plant are toxic to humans, especially the seeds. The fact that it is a toxic plant but can also be used to heal kind of appealed to me, perhaps because on a bad day I think of myself as the most toxic obnoxious person on the planet, but I can occasionally be nice and try to console people with healing words

It probably sounds like I put an awful lot of thought into choosing my username but, honestly, I really didn't and it only took a minute or so

Merrylegs is from Black Beauty <3 I wasn't sure if your name related to Merry from LOTR, but as a fan of both horses and LOTR then both reasons are pretty cool!
