Re: Summer Blues....???

I used to wear a jacket no matter how hot it was, now I wear a polo shirt, or t shirt, but feel very self-conscious. One thing I won't do though is wear shorts out in public! My legs aren't as skinny...

Re: Has social anxiety messed up every area in your life?

But are there any in the same boat as myself who haven't managed to even achieve the basics in life due to SA?

Yes me, well I don't think it's all due to SA but it makes me feel terrible! :(

Re: SA - where you born with it?

Re: Why are some men on here so against the idea of female only meets?

Huh? Who has said they are against it? Maybe some guys who are single, lonely or virgins might be because they'd have some delusion they could get a girlfriend at a meet, but otherwise I don't see...

Re: Expect to Fail in Order to Suceed

I actually love this advice, even if you fail a lot, expecting to is better than building up false hope you will succeed and feeling worse when you fail/get rejected. Though that isn't really the...

Re: Can't phone about a job

Thanks for replying john, yes it's hard. But things are worse than just this in my waste of time life. Another crap thread, making a habit of it, but feeling good after all the alcohol at least.

Re: Alcohol and Social Anxiety

It makes me feel worse really, but more likely to actually try and talk and connect with people for the short time I am drunk. Not a good regular long term plan.

Re: has anyone ever been unable to look after themselves

Re: Isolation = Mental torture

I have no outlets, never had any relationships, stuck in with no one to talk to. Always lived at my parents house. I can actually relate with your situation but I'm over 10 years older. But if you...

Re: I've messed up and lost all hope

Please stop thinking about it, you did well but then it got too much and it's not your fault you got like that.
I'm in my 30s and have worked before, but I can't see how I'd be able handle a job...

Re: 40 year old Virgins..........

Most have more serious mental issues, low IQs, more than SA in most cases I'd bet, but sex from developing a relationship is more a challenge for guys on the whole it seems. Plenty of physically...

Re: Isolation = Mental torture

Yes it is, I think I've gone a bit mad and enjoy it now though in a way. Stuck in my room and talking to myself all day.:bananathing:

Yeah it's crap.

Re: feeling alone!!

I'm can relate in feeling so lonely, I have no friends to see or talk to or anyone special in my life. Living alone must make it harder to bear also at times, but at this stage I'd prefer that to...

Re: Sertraline and Very Low Mood

You started on 100mg straight away? That might be the reason, but I'd try and hold on for another 3 - 4 weeks and see if you feel any better. I still had excessive tiredness after 3 months of it and...

Re: interesting article, social anxiety and masturbation

I stopped for a while, it's hard though when you have no other sexual outlet and "feel the need and desire". But I didn't suddenly want to become a social butterfly and feel less sick so not to avoid...

Re: Can't get motivated to change

Yes I've been on a few SSRIs which numbed my senses and made me feel more carefree, but even less motivated and stay in bed more due to increased fatigue. Also had some therapy sessions that didn't...

Re: Missed Opportunities

No good dwelling on them, I have too many regrets to list. My SA helped mess things up, but I don't like blaming that. It's your own limits and what opportunities are available also, I'm a...

Re: anyone single still?

It's especially brutal "still" being single when you're over 30 I think. I wish I didn't care and yearn for the love and willing intimacy only a relationship could bring.

Most women seem to be...

Re: Did SA effect your grades in college/school? How?

I did get really anxious in exams and hated being watched while I was writing or working things out. I didn't do as well as I'd hoped, but I think it had to do more with me being lazy and not...
