Re: New flat but already anxious about neighbour

Hi Melangell. The suggestion of knocking on a neighbour's door when noise has already become an issue is a confrontation, to my mind at least. If the OP knows nothing of this neighbour and there's...

Re: New flat but already anxious about neighbour

I'm finding I'm posting a lot on here lately about things that have reminded me of my SA at it's worst. So bear in mind what I post is more about me than anyone else... and may not be the best advice...

Re: Introversy and SA (Long post)

I'd really recommend you try to do this. I say that as someone who can relate to a lot of the things you've written and wish I'd done that at the time. I had CBT later but doing CBT while at Uni,...

Re: List of best films of the 21st century - How many have you seen?

I've seen 5 of those. Some surprising choices there.

I saw Zama recently and it's an interesting film but it didn't strike me as the best of the decade by a long stretch. Or maybe I just didn't...

Re: Spending time in nature is associated with good health and wellbeing.

That's ok :) I've been a bit nature deficient this week so may have to get a dose of nature soon - I've set a goal to take a long walk in the local park/arboretum this weekend, at the very least.

Re: Rate the last film you watched (4)..

'Adoption' - a Hungarian film on MUBI (leaving tonight). I'd give it 8/10. A very humanistic and thoughtful film, and exactly the sort of thing I was looking for yesterday evening.

Re: Share YouTube channels/series

NHK's 'Somewhere Street' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlSqzS5eopw) is relaxing YouTube TV. A Japanese film crew with a steadicam, walking around places across the world. This is a rare one from...

Re: Do you get anxious about chatting to neighbours?

I used to get anxious talking with neighbours. Sometimes I'd check to see if anyone was outside before taking the rubbish out. And at my last flat there was a concierge who sat out front in a little...

Spending time in nature is associated with good health and wellbeing.

This was in the news yesterday and seems like a good way to help combat stress and anxiety. Apparently it can be something as simple as sitting in a park and the optimum amount of time to get health...

Re: Only about 30% of shyness is genetics

I've been fascinated by this nature vs nurture question for a long time.

I'm not sure if it's fully factored into the 30% (maybe it is) but people's temperament can have a strong effect on the...

Re: TV programs you're watching?

Not seen that yet. I remember when it was on TV but didn't get around to watching on catch up.

I managed to find Smilie's People to download and just watched episode 1. Great stuff. I'm getting...

Re: TV programs you're watching?

Not yet but going to try to get that on DVD soon. I followed the basic plot but often lost track of the characters being referred to in dialogue.

As for the film, I need to re-watch that now and...

Re: TV programs you're watching?

Just watched Chernobyl which is as good as everyone says it is. As long as you like ultra serious and bleak fact based dramas. Which I very much do.

And the original 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy'...

Re: I want to change before it's too late

I work as a Benefits Assessor. For local government I should add, not the DWP - we don't sanction people, and the benefits I deal with can still be awarded, even if people get their main DWP benefits...

Re: I want to change before it's too late

The turning point for me was getting a job in the public sector. I'd had lots of jobs for private companies where the drive was maximising profit. That impulse is sadly being applied to parts of the...

Hey Lou

I've only just seen your post. Yes I definitely remember :) Sarah records! And Indie Pop. I may have imagined it but I think we saw the legendary 'There and Back Again Lane'.

Back after a very long break

Hello

I last posted here about 10 years ago. Under a few different names but Marwood was the one I kept for longest.

I'm not quite sure what's brought me back. I can't see myself posting very...
