Re: Wish it would get easier

Everyone makes the odd social faux-pas occasionally, but when you make them all the time I think people do notice and you end up with a reputation as socially awkward and weird, which is very hard to...

Re: Do you find self improvement makes you feel more self-conscious?

I think the biggest problem I have with self-improvement is that I spend so much time focusing on what I'm doing wrong I never have the time to actually do anything right.

The problem is I seem to...

Re: Do you find self improvement makes you feel more self-conscious?

It's very rare that I get any sort of compliment from anyone, quite the opposite. But why would I? I have absolutely nothing going for me. I don't really give people any reason to compliment me.

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)

I do like a Galaxy Ripple though. Galaxy chocolate tastes better in flake form for some reason.

Re: Do you find self improvement makes you feel more self-conscious?

I do want approval. Not from everyone, but from some people would be nice. I want approval from the people I admire and respect, but they seem to look down their noses at me because I'm not good...

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)

The purpose of a Flake is to go in an ice cream. Nobody has one as an actual chocolate bar, do they?

Re: Do you find self improvement makes you feel more self-conscious?

I don't have depression. Depression is a temporary state whereas I've felt like this for over 20 years. I wouldn't meet the diagnostic criteria for clinical depression. Depression is a medical...

Re: Do you find self improvement makes you feel more self-conscious?

Over time I've gradually learnt how to make basic, friendly small talk but I can't do much more than that. My job is a daily reminder at just how bad I am at being human as people react very...

Re: Do you find self improvement makes you feel more self-conscious?

When I'm relaxed in a social setting is when things go wrong. I tend to come across as very off-putting when I'm being the natural me.

Trying to be likeable involves a lot of thinking. I have to...

Do you find self improvement makes you feel more self-conscious?

I've been looking at a lot of self-improvement stuff recently, and apart from it being a real eye opener as to just how bad I am socially, I find it is making me very self conscious about behaving...

Re: The Suicide Thread - Trigger Warning

I wish I could hurry up and die. I'd rather just get it out the way to be honest and stop wasting everyone's time.

I don't have any sort of moral dilemma about it, I think it's just laziness. I...

Re: The ASD thread (Autism Spectrum Disorder)

So basically, workplaces are full of ultra competitive, backstabbing twats who are desperate to get one over you if you're not part of their clique? And the best way to deal with it is to become one...

Re: The ASD thread (Autism Spectrum Disorder)

I'm not sure if I'm frustrated with my career progression or not to be honest. I have little desire to do a management role because it seems like a massive amount of stress for not much more pay, and...

Re: Where do you buy your groceries because Morrisons are taking the pish.

I send my footman to Fortnum and Masons for all my groceries. Although it's usually just for the basic essentials like foie gras and champagne.

Re: Has anyone else here experienced living as a pariah of their community?

Another one of mine is that I don't like walking behind lone women incase they think I'm following them. I also worry that some women will think I'm trying to chat them up if I speak to them so I...

Re: Has anyone else here experienced living as a pariah of their community?

I'm sorry that you've experienced all that GI.

But it's got me thinking, is it actually a more common thing to experience than I realise? I've gone through similar. I am not on good terms with my...

Re: Has anyone else here experienced living as a pariah of their community?

I can drive, but I live in rural Wales which really is the middle of nowhere. It takes several hours to drive to anywhere with things going on. It feels very claustrophobic and like I'm living in a...

If you haven't, then...

How did you deal with it?

Did you ever manage to successfully repair your reputation?

Is moving away and starting afresh the only solution?

Where's the best place to live if you're...

Re: The ASD thread (Autism Spectrum Disorder)

An interesting video, and it's made me think about how autism is represented in popular culture and I think it's pretty awful really. You just tend to think of ridiculous caricatures like Sheldon...

Re: The ASD thread (Autism Spectrum Disorder)

Any of the symptoms I could be treated for wouldn't really be symptoms of autism. They would probably be loosely linked to it, but the things I struggle with are all mental health related.

The...
