Self-help & inspirational audio/vids
Welcome to the self-help & inspirational audios/video thread!
What audios and videos do you either find inspiring in the most general sense or are there any vids/audios you think could help other people deal with their problems or motivate them towards moving forward with their lives? One lady id say was my secret guilty pleasure would be louise l Hay, on the subject of self love. This is what it comes down to in the end, regardless of achievement or possessions, at the core...do you love yourself?...Do you even like yourself? Paul mckenna has similar exercises on the subject of how you see yourself. Ive resisted this subject for a while but im feeling the benefits of these exercises. Id say this was inspirational and spot on. Its all about the self love baby! Interesting vid on becoming the strongest version of yourself. Letting go of weaker forms of yourself in order to grow. Interesting concept. I can think of a ton of sh*t that I can let go of in order to become who I want to be. |

That would be scary for me to do but for some reason it reminds me how irrational I am sometimes caring way too much bout what strangers think of me. |

Re: Self-help & inspirational audio/vids
Interesting take on social anxiety. Skip the waffle and go straight to 3 mins in.
''I try to embrace and love social anxiety now, I totally accept feelings of anxiety.'' ''I want to feel anxious'' 4:50 I relate, Im the master at saying dumb, socially uncalibrated sh*t when anxious. I feel like this guy makes some good points. The idea of embracing anxiety. I think you have to be at a certain level to embrace this totally but messing up and not giving a shi*t while embracing anxiety is the way to go. I think everyone could do with hearing this simple message. #in the end...you can't run or hide from your fears for ever. |

Re: Self-help & inspirational audio/vids
Russ Harris and ACT,specifically talking about anxiety here (anxiety in general, not necessarily SA but I thought it was fitting). I first came across this when it was posted a couple of years ago by Benfica, and it sounds silly but it literally revolutionised how I saw my SA,after all the many things I`ve seen and read over the years this was the one which resonated and stayed with me. The message is not a new one,but for some reason I connected with the way it`s packaged by him (on this video and in his books). I can`t really get into the more "spiritual" side of mindfulness, but the more pragmatic applications of ACT have helped my anxiety greatly. Anyway, might be of interest to someone EDIT: If anyone makes it that far,I like the "demons on the boat" metaphor at around 20:00mins in,I try and remember it when I feel avoidant (so always then lol) |

^ Nice vid, I need to re watch to see what he is saying though as I wasn't fully focused on 'is vid first time round but I like how he sees anxiety as a realistic emotion we shouldn't just shove and pretend isn't real.

Re: Self-help & inspirational audio/vids
I mind wonder alot, apparently this is a cause of unhappiness. I use to do it less as a kid, no wonder I felt much more satisfied. But mind wondering sometimes is actually nice, it's just that my mind wonders about negative things most of the time

Sorry, I don't know how to post so that the video appears on my post. I can only do the link. An interesting video that I stumbled across earlier on 'How To Overcome Shyness' |
