Default Life is looking not so bad

Hi, just thought I'd let people know that there is help out there (if they want it..) I'm doing this sa recovery program which goes for 8 weeks. Its great and I'm finding new ways to deal with my obstrusive thoughts and getting some confidence. Its a group of 8 and you get into discussion groups at different times which really puts you into the social situation. Ever since doing this program I have got the confidence to talk on the phone somewhat, start studying again and find some part time work while also being a mum of 2. You just need to put yourself out there. I've been stuck in a rut for 2 years or more now and I feel like the depression and the 'self pity' is lifting finally ! The program teaches you to 'stay in the present' not to let your mind wander into obstrusive thoughts whilst in a social situation. I've been battling sa for 12 years now and its been up and down the whole time. I hope this time I can kick it in the butt

congratulations for having the courage to join the group. it's great to hear that you're noticing improvements already! keep up the good work!

i've joined an SA CBT group in the past year and I've felt it's helped me as well.

Great post, well done!

I do believe that once you're determined to fight SA, it will have no choice but back down gradually. I joined an SA support group this year myself, it's not led by a therapist though, it just consists of other SA'ers and me. It has been of enourmous help to me though and on top of everything I have met some really wonderful people there.

Good luck missshy, will you keep us posted about your progress?
