I'm giving the youth panel group a second chance.

Today I went to Mentoring Training for the first time, it was in a Youth Centre and as usual the Youth Panel was quite unorganised and the teacher/group leader was 40 mins late. The class was alright, not really amazing tbh, but maybe I should lower my expectations.

But the youth centre was full of teens and young adults, the group of teens I'm most nervous around. I know it's irrational but I'm most nervous around people who seem like they would be in the popular group in School, Black peers despite being Black , people who seem not afraid to express dislike. But I know I have a really irrational view of people due to social isolation. Going to the youth Centre and waiting while watching other yout play was anxiety inducing, it was like I was in a pool of anxiety, I didn't really go against my anxiety. But this experience makes me feel that my anxiety and false judgements are possible to face.

I need to challenge my anxiety and irrational beliefs more but feel I need interactive places to do it like dat yout centre.

Today I actually did my presentation in uni. :D
I was going to go to the tutor and get out of it, tell him I was too nervous (because I was feeling so nervous preparing for it for a few days before), but I DID IT! And I feel so much better for doing it and facing all those people. I'm so proud of myself.

In my evening French class I got up in front of the class (about 12 people) to do a pretend weather forecast in French. I didn't really make any eye contact during it but at least I didn't shake much either (thank you Propanolol ) and didn't feel particularly bad about it afterwards.

I struck up conversation with an attractive girl on the train home. I didn't feel weird about it, and I wasn't trying to impress her or get her phone number or anything. It just felt natural and I was surprised at myself. I was desperately trying to cling on to what thoughts had created such ease to behave like that, but they disappeared into the night!

Quite happy with myself, i was the only volunteer at the charity shop which allowed me to have a bit of a chat with one of the new team leaders which made me feel a bit easier around them. I then went shopping after as i pass the supermarket on the way home and have been using it as an opportunity for exposure, but today i got a basket for once and bought more than 2 or 3 things and then felt brave and went to a proper checkout with a queue and a human being not a self pay machine like i usually would. Im also planning on accidentally on purpose forgetting something at a till and going and getting an item to test myself, although not sure how long till i get brave enough to do this i might ask my dad to go get something so im left waiting in the queue to build up to it.

I just went to the optician and got an appointment for tomorrow. I was super nervous, I didn't even know what was going to happen when I walked in there, I've never been there before, but I did it!

Way to go!
I've been putting mine off the last two years. I keep getting letters saying it's time for a check up. I sat on my glasses frame a while back and it's sellotaped together now.
Luckily for me, I'm too embarrassed to wear them outside anyway.

^+^^ Thank you. I had been putting it off for more than three years, and I really need new glasses.

When I was about 14 one of the screws from my glasses went missing, I had to tape it together. It was pretty embarrassing having to go into school with those on.

Nice one.
A year and a half ago I was struggling to go into coffie shops. I remember it like it was yesterday because I had a support worker at the time helping me, trying to get me to go out. I remember the horrible feeling of complete overwhelm sitting across from her. But it got me started.

Keep at it.

Well strictly I haven't done it yet but I'm going up to London for a day out in about half an hour. I'll be on my own though I'm secretly hoping that I'll find someone on the train to talk to. Think I might take in a museum or two, have some lunch and a coffee somewhere.

Sounds brave going on your own well done, over a year ago i went with my dad and sister to the natural history museum and enjoyed it although i did panic a bit on the tube. Hopefully you don't get soaked as its pouring down here, hopefully you have good time and good luck talking to strangers.
