Society can do with more Mental Health / SA Awareness

Posted 5th March 2016 at 17:51 by Amara 94

This clicked in my mind just now as I went to my local Tesco's. This is a post off my head.

This week I started a work programme, I can't say I am well liked there however I haven't felt badly disliked so far and I have been contributing in the classes. I get on okay with some people. It has made me feel that self improvement is very possible for me. I have been super nervous at times in the work programme though, when it was the first day and some breaks. There my anxiety takes over my behaviour, I can guess I come across less approachable than I am.

However, now I just went to my local Tesco now and was nervous, felt a bit judged for it. I have felt this way for some time, but then if I feel someone is negative towards me, maybe it's me feeling negative and someones actions doesn't define me, especially if it is someone who doesn't really know me. Although I guess feeling people have misunderstood me and being misjudged for anxiety in the past has made me close in and feel frustrated and helpless. This is exactly why I feel more mental health awareness is still needed in society.

The work skills class helps me see possibilities, to an extent. However from what I have seen of my community, I'm not really part of it, it makes me feel different and misunderstood.
